Con Survival Skills 101

This 90 minute workshop with Q&A, facilitated by a mental health professional and seasoned con goer, will walk attendees through the basics of con survival. A guided workshop, attendees will leave with an action plan to care for the mind and body that can be referenced and shared with others. This plan will includes: basic centering exercise, nourishing your nervous system, managing FOMO, attending to sensory over or under stimulation, and a basic grounding exercise. Bring pencil, paper, or a device with the ability to take notes.

Is that Chaos in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?
Personal space, communication, and consent aren’t just about touch and sex. In this workshop attendees will learn the overarching concepts of consent as a culture. Attendees will explore how one person’s joy is another person’s nightmare, how to talk about it, and how to practice spoons over knives. This workshop will be interactive and in the spirit of the space “no” will be encouraged and respected.

How Bluey Helps Us to Reparent
Many of us have experienced parental trauma, leaving us scarred and wounded. One path through that pain is to listen to and tend to the needs of our inner child. Using examples from Bluey, Bingo, Bandit and Chilli, we will walk you through developing awareness of your inner child’s voice, accepting their needs, and identifying action steps for how to make decisions related to what your inner child is asking of you. This workshop is lecture based, please bring pencil, paper, or a device with the ability to take notes.

We all know someone who is struggling with their mental health. It can be hard to know what to say, how to offer help, and when that person may need more than what you can offer. During this 90 minute workshop with Q&A, learn how to be a supportive friend, partner, family member, or advocate for those with mental health struggles. Gain insight and understanding into what may be impacting them, what they may want to hear, and how to support in a healthy way.

This workshop will be about furries and normies, since sometimes the important person in our life happens to be a normie.

Demystifying Gender: Everything you’ve ever wanted to ask a Gender Affirming Therapist
Yes we are everywhere and we always have been; unfortunately the world is not prepared for us so we have to prepare ourselves. In this workshop, facilitated by a transgender Licensed Professional Counselor and Certified Sex Therapist will present basic concepts all folks need to know related to gender affirming care and answer as many of your questions as possible. This class is for all people. The safety of trans people will be prioritized at all times. The experiences of trans people and their affirming partners and family members will be centered. Education related to sex and reproductive healthcare will be included.

Searching for the right therapist can be daunting and depending on your needs may deter you from searching all together. This workshop will walk you through how to access therapy, budgeting and paying for sessions, and most importantly, identifying the right therapist for your unique needs. Learn from a therapist who's far from a normie (no matter how you define that word) where we can be found, tips for getting started, and what to do if it’s not going well.

Grief and Loss in Convention Culture

In this workshop behavioral health professionals and seasoned con attendees will normalize these experiences, identify tangible tools for holding, tending to, and releasing the grief.
