Skeptic's Guide to Tulpas

Have you heard about tulpas? Did you stumble across these so-called 'sentient imaginary friends' through a creepypasta or a funny forum post (or this panel in your schedule) and emerge confused or curious? Is it really possible to create another person in your head, or is it just an elaborate hoax? And if it's real, what does it feel like?

I used to wonder the same things - and the only way to know for sure was to try making a tulpa of my own. So I did, and I'm eager to share what I found!

In this panel, I'll peel back the memes and mysticism to reveal the objective, down-to-earth truth behind these fascinating psychological phenomena. Citing research papers and applying anecdotes from my own 7-year journey as a host of two tulpas, I'll cover where the practice of tulpamancy came from and how it might work, how it re-entered the modern zeitgeist as a hobby, what separates it from other forms of plurality such as DID, and how it feels to go through the tulpa creation process and live with a tulpa of your own. At the end of the panel, my tulpas and I will take questions from the still-curious about our own personal experiences.

Skeptics are welcome - this panel is for you!

Note: Following the theme of skepticism and keeping with the majority of research that has been published on the subject, this panel will not delve into anything metaphysical and will only consider tulpamancy as a purely psychological and explainable phenomenon.
