Nuclear Engineering 101

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

Welcome to nuclear engineering 101! Settle in, grab your calculators, and crack open those physics’ books. We’ll begin with the basics of nuclear physics, radiation detection, and what is required to sustain a chain reaction. We’ll go into what makes a reactor and how it works. Then we’ll move to applications of nuclear energy, with a focus on nuclear power. This will include a past, present, and future of nuclear power generation and its applications beyond electricity generation. Lastly, we’ll end with how to find nuclear engineering in our day to day lives. I plan to include models, Geiger counters, and a cloud chamber! So, if you’ve got a hankering that only radiation can fill, then come on by to learn about nuclear engineering!
